Every now and then, I encounter a book that feels like God is speaking directly to me. In those moments, my attention is fully captured. Even as I navigate the challenges of parenting my son, I can feel God’s presence, guiding and nurturing me. It reminds me that despite my imperfections as a mother, I am deeply loved by God and entrusted with the task of raising my child with His guidance.
If it is even possible, this book spoke to me the way a godly friend would in sharing wisdom from mom to mom. The way this book is presented allows for one to look within with grace rather than feeling shamed as a parent, especially a mom.
Moms come from all walks of life, and they rightfully choose how to raise their children based on preference or experience. However, it is important to surrender our journey of motherhood to God, as He will reveal how we should parent our children, rather than relying solely on our own expectations as mothers.
I have been a Christian all my life, and my husband gave his heart to Jesus about nine years ago. Our son has been raised in a two-Christian household, but our Christian journeys as parents are completely different. My husband and I had to learn to be a Christian couple together while balancing how to be Christian parents to our son.
Lee Ann Mancini has intricately woven her personal experiences as a child and a mother into the profound messages delivered through her words God gave her. This is a book I deeply wish I had encountered twelve years ago when I became a Mom. Nonetheless, as with everything, this is God’s perfect timing for our son. Five years ago, our son dedicated his life to Jesus and was baptized. It was a beautiful moment led by my husband. Every day, I witness my son’s growth in Christ, while I, too, continue to grow in my faith as a child of God.
Raising Kids to Follow Christ is not just a parenting book; it is like a heartfelt message from God to the inner child who needs Grace as we navigate not only a broken world, but also a journey of self-healing from our own internal struggles. With care, Lee Ann Mancini connects Scripture to everyday moments, including prayer prompts within the book. Although targeted to Christian parents, it is written in a way that could lead someone to surrender their heart to Jesus if they have not already. Mancini explains different parts of Scripture and how they apply to raising kids to follow Christ. The reflection questions encourage deeper contemplation and fellowship with God in personal time, serving as a gentle reminder of His presence.
What is truly wonderful is that, although these sentiments relate to our own children, they can be extended to include children we come across, such as those in the educational field. In my role as a teacher in a Christian school, I interact with numerous students each day. The way in which I engage with them and demonstrate Jesus through my own actions will leave the most lasting impression on them, surpassing the academic lessons I impart.
Not only is this a wonderful read, it is a book that you can turn to in different seasons of your parenting journey. Often, a book is relevant only to a particular season, but this book is written in a way that can speak to you on more than one occasion. Below is the book; it is available on Amazon.

As you take a look within as a parent, ask yourself, are you the parent that you needed when you were a child? How can God parent with you….how can He parent you? Accept His new mercies as the little eyes watching you will see Jesus through you.
